How to wrap technical elements with hard edges? (hardmeshes)

Hello,
I made recently a test with wrapping two technical objects.
It was a similar task like wrapping a cube to a cylinder.

It did not work at all. I played with many settings.

  • different resolutions, many points or ony few points
  • different simulation settings like recommended
(“For accurate wrapping of clean scans with minimal noise Decrease sampling final and smoothness final parameters and Increase ICP iterations and optimization iterations”)

The wrapped mesh was always wobbling and never really sticking to large flat areas.
Simple Beveled edges seemed to be a problem, too.

What is the reason, that Wrap3 can solve organic stuff with ease but struggles to conform a cube to a simple cylinder (with beveled edges)?
Or did I miss something?

Thanks for explanation!

Thank you for the great question. I recorder a short video explaining how you can wrap a cylinder or a cube. Please let me know if it works for you.
